lunix distro review #1: peppermint OS

peppermint OS is a lunix distro based off of linux mint that aims to be primarily for webrowsing while also being FAST AS FUCK; although you'll probably want a web connection to use it it is not required, which seperates it from "cloud based OSes" which retrieve all your applications files and programs off the internet (WHICH IS A FUCKING ATROCITY BTW), even still without a connection peppermint can do this

and maybe this

and that's about it

SPEED
7/10

peppermint is light and minimal but that does not mean that it's smooth as slick oil 100% of the time (though this applies to every OS known to man), even still if you compare it to hulking beasts like ubuntu and even its father linux mint, it's a good and fast distro to try out. excellent with old computers considering its speed and very low disk usage (~1GB)

USABILITY
10/10

peppermint does what it fucking says on the box without any tricks. you don't need to know a fucking THING about lunix to use it either; so long as you can effeciently navigate the main menu you'll be able to do everything peppermint is there for you to do

AESTHETICS
9/10

peppermint's WM/DM/fuck you is LXDE (although it also comes with pure unconfigured Openbox if you like to get your hands dirty) and the default theme looks very nice. you likely won't even change the theme because it's very easy on the eyes (though it also comes with a couple dark themes iirc for all of you giant flaming faggots out there)

OVERALL
9/10

peppermint is pretty fucking good

for reference this is it playing a youtube vid and having 2 OTR tabs open while using the LXDE interface

without the YT vid it's roughly 300-400 MB memory use

if you plan to dual boot then get ready to get your hands dirty because lunix and windows both mutually hate being booted with one another

also keep this in mind

or this
